Partita
"Creativity is more than just being different. Anybody can play weird; that’s easy. What’s hard is to be as simple as Bach. Making the simple, awesomely simple, that’s creativity." - Charles Mingus
A virtuoso conversation between two dancers and the ensemble Musica Extrema, with an idiosyncratic view of the life and music of Johann Sebastian Bach, about letting go but not wanting to let go. The works of this great master are perhaps the greatest challenge for any musician. His partitas and inventions are seen by many as the pearls of his inexhaustible oeuvre and are the leading parts to this show. Música Extrema (Tanya Schaap) and dancers Monik and Dante Dominguez (Argentina) have dared to take these compositions as a starting point and take their own artistic path. Or did Bach's timelessness and genius ultimately keep them in their grip? Dance: Monik Dominguez, Dante Dominguez Music: Musica Extrema: Tanya Sheep - violin |
